My point is that it is better to learn the CLI first and then move on to the GUI. For me this is all about learning, and more specifically, learning better. Many of us came up in the IT ranks using nothing but, and personally I prefer them in many cases. If a person is knowledgeable, efficient, and good at what they do then what does it matter whether or not they use the CLI or a GUI. However, your post just proves that you're not selling an IPS or a firewall with "deep packet inspection". (heh) To go your comments one futher, I believe that people shouldn't be allowed to use GUI-based tools until they fully understand the command line versions (forces them to learn the technology behind the mouse click).
