Well there is one instance of a company pegging the cost of a database breach. Though many would think the cost they arrived at is a conservative figure. For those of you IT managers who may be reading this, it is an excellent reminder of why you need third party assessments. Secondly, it is also why you should not balk at the fees people like myself and others charge for a VA or Pen-Test. My fee is very small potatoes indeed in comparison to the cost quoted in this article.
