Laptop encryption

There is a fairly large product offering, from various vendors, that address the need for laptop hard drive encryption. It is of note to bear in mind though that at least one of these vendors have had exploitable conditions associated with their product. That brings another point to mind. Do you blindly believe all of the vendor hype about their product, or do you demand to see an independent third party review. That review should include a fairly rigorous threat testing scenario. While it is good that there are excellent products offering both power on and power off encryption, just make sure that you do your research before purchasing one of them for your companies needs. When it comes to a corporate network and having to safeguard their mobile computing assets you had best be very careful. It would not look very good for you if customer data was scooped off of a laptop hard drive now would it. -)
