Sony BMG settles

Well it seems that Sony has settled it’s class action suit brought against it by some very pissed off customers. My only complaint is that Sony was not heavily (I mean in the millions) penalized by the judge in this case. Sony set a very public example of how not to conduct public relations. Companies trying to protect their intellectual property/copyrighted material is not new, but Sony’s exercise was a spectacular failure. I really don’t understand why companies persist in these efforts. For every DRM scheme brought it, there is a fix in relatively short order. Perhaps they should question the root cause of piracy ie: the abominable price that some companies charge for their wares. Now that would be a novel idea!
