I fully agree with you. Then again I do realize that some high end s/w will always be expensive due to the small niche market they serve. That said Microsoft has long ago paid off the research and programming work that went into the products you mentioned. It strikes simply as unbridled greed. The only thing that people can do is strike back by going with Linux or BSD alternatives.

Absorbant prices such as $250+ OS, $300+ office, and the real killer visual studio priced at a heartstopping $400+.  Making just the core software on my laptop worth around $1000; almost doubling the value of my laptop...

I think as long as there are &quot;companines&quot; charging more for there software then my first car; there will be warez.</description>
